FAQ's

Does it hurt?

With most laser hair removal systems  you will experience  an “elastic band snap” however,  the Pain-Free Hair-Free  Soprano system makes it possible to treat even the most sensitive areas safely and comfortably. This patented  sweeping  In-Motion technique heats targeted hair follicles whilst the cool tip keeps the skin comfortable. The treatment is reported to feel similar to a “hot stone massage”.

Is it safe?

Yes, hair removal is one of the medical aesthetic industry’s most well known and researched uses of lasers. The lasers utilise energy wavelengths of light which pass through the skin into the hair follicles leaving no residuals in the skin.

Is it permanent?

On average someone with dark hair will experience around 80% permanent reduction. Treatment will generally be done every 4-6 weeks and due to the nature of the hair growth cycle will take approximately 6-8 sessions, although  this will vary from person to person. A consultation with the therapist is required to determine whether you are suitable for treatment.

Does it work on all skin types?

Soprano Pain-Free Hair-Free  treatments are effective on all skin types including tanned skin, although results may vary.

Can I pluck or wax in between treatments?

No. In order for treatment to work the hair must be present in the follicle. The laser energy travels down the hair via the pigment  to destroy the hair at the root, so it is important to avoid waxing/plucking  for up to six weeks prior to treatment. Shaving is advisable in between sessions.

Do I need to grow the hair to have the treatment?

No, the hair should be removed either by shaving or using hair removal cream before treatment so that the maximum energy  can travel down the hair follicle to the root.

Which areas can be treated?

With Soprano Pain-Free Hair-Free technology it is possible to treat nearly any part of the body safely and comfortably.

How long does it take?

This will be determined in your consultation, though Soprano technology allows a wider treatment area since it is in constant motion, therefore cutting down treatment times whilst staying cool and comfortable throughout.

Can fine downy hair be removed?

The removal of this type of hair is not as successful as when the hair is coarser and darker, although with new technology it is much improved. The most effective treatment for this type of hair is an Alkaline wash, which is available at The Medworth Clinic, your therapist can discuss this during consultation.

How does tattoo removal work?

The Ruby laser uses a synthetic ruby crystal as it’s laser medium , it produces pulses of visible light in a deep red colour. The majority of colours but especially blacks and blues respond well to this treatment. Some other colours are more resistant, however greens and reds can also respond effectively to the Q switched Ruby Laser.

How many sessions will I need for tattoo removal?

Unfortunately there isn’t a guaranteed number of sessions to get rid of any tattoo, it is very much dependant on several factors such as skin type and colour, age of tattoo, depth and type of ink used. It can take anywhere from 10-20 sessions to remove a tattoo, but you may only need a few to fade one in order to have a cover up.

Does tattoo removal hurt?

Yes you will feel some pain. This is dependant on where the tattoo is on the body, how deep it is and your own personal pain threshold. People describe it from a flick of an elastic band to the feeling of hot fat splashing on the skin. We cool the skin before and after treatment to make it as comfortable as possible, most clients find it tolerable.
